Who is going to be interested in your little stories ? Who will fund the movie ? Why don't you get a job ? We want you to do this , and then do that. We must all work hard to put your brother to school. All big budget movies have male heroes; we do not think you should cast a woman as the lead. Are you holding the boom mic correctly ?
Empowerment
Approximately 15% of the films submissions to PUFF are by women filmmakers. Only 5% is from women from the Middle East & Asia. We want to encourage more of you ! Yes, you can !
Women filmmakers who currently lives in the Middle East and South East Asia will be exempt from our submission fees. PUFF will be most delighted to assist with any technical aspects of the post production phase of your projects and any travelling arrangement to the festival.
If any women filmmaker has any initiatives that will further the opportunities of women around the world, PUFF would be interested to participate in any way we could. Please contact us.
Filmmaker's profiles : Werther Germondari & Maria Spagnoli: The Italian duo directed and acted in Sex Equo : After disobeying God and having visited the site of 'forbidden fruits', Adam and Eve are trying to regain the lost Eden.
Rachel Mason : Filmmaker, singer, song-writer Rachel Mason directed the Lives of Hamilton Fish. The film was shown at PUFF in a "live cinema" performance at Hidden Agenda in 2013.
Steven Chan directs and sings in Intermezzo. Steven moved to Canada from his native Singapore to find more acceptance of his sexuality.
